Top Five Tuesday: Most Played Songs On My Phone
I have been wanting to start a series I could do a couple (or more) times a month. So today, as I was brainstorming, Top Five Tuesday hit me. It would be fantastic to share my “Top Five” products, tips, music, movies, books, and more. And I would LOVE to know what things you want me to share too. Be sure and comment below to tell me your ideas.
Today, I wanted to start with my most played songs on my phone. I have always been a music lover. Even at a young age, music spoke to me. I remember one Christmas, when I was probably 7 or so, I wanted a boom box. And yes, I am aware that this post totally dates me. LOL! Regardless, I was so excited on Christmas morning when I woke up to a shiny, big boom box with the new Paula Abdul cassette tape. I bet I wore “Straight Up” out before the end of December.
Growing up I sang at church, on the way to school and playing Nintendo; much to my brother’s despair. In middle and high school, I took chorus and chamber choir. Many of my fondest memories are that class and the people in it. I associate memories and time periods in my life with the songs that spoke to me during that same time. Even though my current playlist changes regularly, here is my list for the week.
Daylight by Taylor Swift
Daylight is my current favorite song on the Lover album, but I love the entire thing. I love the lyrics and can feel her love and emotions in this song. You may not love Taylor like I do, but the girl can write a song. If nothing else, listen to the words.
Soundtrack of Your Life by American Young
I stumbled on this song one day while streaming music, and immediately it struck a chord with me, pun intended. American Young is a country music duo that I am loving. This song in particular is perfect because it reminds you about how you felt during periods of your life, like turning 16 and getting your license. I bet you love it too.
Take What You Want by Post Malone featuring Ozzy Osborne and Travis Scott
I am sure you can tell that I am a huge country music fan, but I actually really love Post Malone. I had a long conversation at lunch with my best friend about this particular song. I mean, it has Ozzy on it and it is amazing. She texted me afterwards and told me she had it on repeat too. So good!
Higher Wire by Eric Church
Honestly, I could write an entire blog post about Eric Church. And I may just do it one day soon. In a nutshell, in my opinion, he is the most underrated artist in country music. Higher Wire is off his last album and consistently on my phone. I love it so much. The beat and the words are so fun and different. Definitely, give it a listen.
The Bones by Maren Morris
When Maren Morris released My Church years ago, I knew she would be a favorite. When her last album released, I was excited to see what my favorite songs would be on it. I have several on there, but The Bones is so well written. It talks about how even when things are difficult if you’re grounded, you will make it. She released a version with Hozier too, but I prefer this one.
