Galentine’s Day is held annually on 2/13. This holiday was created on the comedy show Parks and Recreation by the character Leslie Knope. However, I celebrate it annually! It is a great excuse to get together with your best girlfriends, drink mimosas and just relax and laugh.
This year, I celebrated a little early with a couple of my best blogger friends-Ashley and Michelle. It is sometimes mind boggling when I think about the fact that I have known Michelle for a little over a year, and I have only known Ashley since August. But we are all incredibly close and talk almost every day. The only thing missing, was our other friend, Caroline that couldn’t make the trip. (If you don’t already, give them a follow! They have great style and always have the best posts.) Ashley lives in Charleston and Michelle and I are in the Greenville and Asheville area. So we met halfway in a little town outside of Columbia, SC for our (early) Galentine’s Day festivities.
To start our time together, we went to a local restaurant for dinner and drinks. If you are in Lexington, give The Root Cellar a try. It was really good! We came back to the house and laughed, talked, drank champs, and really just enjoyed our time. When we couldn’t hold our eyes open any more, we went to bed but with big plans for Saturday morning.
Brunch Details
Saturday morning, we had the best brunch! We picked up some great, simple decorations and serving pieces at Target from the dollar section! Talking Out Of Turn provided the cutest cards that we used for place settings. I have linked my favorite for you here. Once we started with our mimosa bar the fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, charcuterie, and candy started. We giggled and enjoyed it so much!
To finish our brunch we opened the fun Galentine’s Day gifts that Talking Out Of Turn sent us. I have to say, I fell in love with their products. They are so fun and whimsical! I am a huge glitter person and their confetti collection is right up my alley! I also can’t get enough of this tumbler and this pom tote bag. It is so easy to clean and looks fab with my laptop and other items I carry into work every day. Our time together was only about 24 hours, but honestly, it was so refreshing. I can’t wait to see them again soon!
If you are trying to think of easy ways you can celebrate Galentine’s Day with your girls, check out my fun suggestions below!
10 Easy Ways To Celebrate Galentine’s Day
Weekend Getaway
Take a cue from us. Find a location you all want to visit that is within driving distance and get an Airbnb or a hotel for the weekend. It is so good for the soul to take time away and not have to worry about things. I highly encourage this if you are a mom as well. We tend to let “Mom Guilt” get to us and neglect ourselves. But make time for yourself!
Dinner Out
Make it a priority to visit the hottest restaurant in town! And order all the carbs, steak and dessert that you want to eat. Don’t rush your meal, just enjoy catching up and having fun!
Brunch
I plan on sharing a quick and easy brunch that is sure to impress soon. However, it is so easy to plan and execute. If you love to host get togethers (like I do!), this is a great way to eat and have the day to spend with each other. Quiche is so easy to make, add some muffins, a yogurt bar, donuts, mimosas and coffee and you’re good to go!
Binge Netflix
I love to watch and discuss television shows with my best friend. It is kind of an obsession at times. I am currently begging her to watch The Witcher. Perhaps we can have a binge party and combine brunch for a great day!
Pedi/Mani
I don’t know a girl on the planet that doesn’t love a good manicure and/or pedicure. So meet at your local nail salon and treat yourselves!
Craft Day
Now this is not really my thing, however, my sister is super talented at crafting. If you love that or one of your friends is a DIY person, find a project and complete it together. I would enjoy doing it, but I am not sure what the end result would look like haha!
Piano Bar
We had a great discussion over the weekend about how much fun it is to visit a piano bar. If you are local to Asheville, check out Off The Wagon. They are so much fun! I love singing along and the pianists are so talented!
Have A Book Exchange
I am an avid reader. Gather all your books and have your book worm friends do the same. Then you can swap and have all new books to read!
Movie Night
My best friend and I used to go to the movies pretty regularly. But lately, we haven’t been as much and it is kind of a bummer. We have so many good memories from those nights and still laugh about some of the times. We like to go on an off night and try and get a theatre that we are the only ones there; then we can talk and critique together. LOL! You could also do it at home and binge your favorite chick flicks or series, like Twilight. Yes, I am Team Edward forever! 😉
Send A Card
Sometimes simple things are the best. If you cherish a friend, send them a card. I bet it makes their day. And it is something they will be able to keep. Add in a coffee gift card or something simple if you want. I just think cheering on our friends is important.
My Best Friend
I am sure you noticed that I referenced my best friend several times in my post today. I would be completely remiss to mention that it just so happens my BFF has her birthday on Galentine’s Day! We have been friends since the 6th grade and can finish each others sentences. The last year, she has been a huge source of strength for me. Some weeks when we have lunch we discuss the Royals and how much we care about things that have zero impact on us. And other times she has listened to me cry over my Mama. But through everything from Megxit to grief, she has been there for me. Thanks for being the best friend I could ask for, Kelly. You’re The Shih-Tzu!
