Celebrating International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day a day to celebrate the accomplishments of women across the globe. It is so important to me to recognize women in this world that achieve success in all kinds of areas. Today I will feature women in fashion that inspire me. However, each week in March, I will write a post celebrating women that inspire me. I hope it inspires you too.
Kendra Scott
It seems appropriate to feature on of my favorite jewelry designers, Kendra Scott. She designed her first collection in 2002 and since then has grown it into a billion dollar fashion company. I love her jewelry pieces because they are so unique. She has a collection for every style. You can even design your own too. I attended a blog conference in 2019 and we were able to choose the earring and stone we wanted. I still wear those earrings at least once a week!
Some of my favorite pieces from Kendra Scott are linked below, if you want to shop. I am also wearing some of her pieces in this photo. Kendra Scott also has a “Shop For Good” page that donates 20% of the proceeds from specific items to causes that empower women and children. I am loving the Everlyne Friendship Bracelets, they are perfect for you and your girlfriends!
Audrey McLoghlin
It is no secret that I love a great button up shirt. Not all of them are created equal and my current favorite brand is Grayson. (Seen in the photo below.) The CEO and creator of Grayson is none other than Audrey McLoghlin. She also is the force behind Frank and Eileen, an elite button up shirt brand that has a cult following from celebrities such as Oprah and Meghan Markle. If the shirts are good enough for the Duchess herself, you know they must be something else. I have linked some of my favorites below.
She supports and empowers women as a working mom and I am here for it. Did you know she has a two story playhouse built inside the Grayson headquarters for staff to bring their kids? She knows and understands the struggle of being a woman, mom and a business woman. I love that she encourages other women to be super powerful!
Sara Blakely
Everyone has heard of Spanx. I even wrote a huge post recently with a review of their faux leather leggings. (And the snakeskin Spanx leggings I am wearing below, are fully stocked and on sale for $68.99!) But did you know that the founder Sara Blakely, came up with the idea for Spanx after she cut out the feet of her pantyhose to make an undergarment that she could wear under her white pants and wear with open toed shoes. Her story of success is quite incredible. She worked full time during the day and every night on Spanx. In 2012, she became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire.
While all of that is impressive and amazing, she has a heart for other women. One of her biggest missions is to help other women become successful. She even lets other entrepreneurs feature their products in Spanx publications for free! Her staff also gets involved and gets to help decide where some of the money goes and what causes it supports. You can learn more and read her full open letter here.
Happy International Women’s Day
“Every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. We’re strongest when we cheer each other on.” -Serena Williams This quote speaks volumes to me. I want to use my brand and blog to create a community of encouragement and not competition. In some way, I hope I provide support to others, inspire self confidence and hope for those that struggle.
I couldn’t write a blog post about women without quoting one of my most favorite women-Dolly Parton! “You know, I look like a woman, but I think like a man. And in this world of business, that has helped me a lot. Because by the time they think that I don’t know what’s goin’ on, I then got the money, and am gone.” How true is it ladies? We have to look like women and think like men. Thank God we are able to mutli-task. 😉 Happy International Women’s Day to each of you! XO, Laura
